Some properties give you a house. This one gives you a world of your own. Set on 4.58 private acres in Volcano, this eclectic 3BD/2BA home is surrounded by mature landscaping, established plantings, and a peaceful natural setting. With fenced rear acreage and room to wander, garden, create, and grow, the property offers a rare sense of privacy and tranquility just minutes from Volcano Village and Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park. The home has character you simply can’t manufacture. Originally a San Francisco warehouse, the stout 2×6 tongue-and-groove boards were brought to Hawaii and reimagined into this Forest Home. Warm wood, built-in shelving, an unexpected copper-floor shower, a woodstove, and a wonderfully unconventional floor plan give it a funky, creative personality. Solid and soulful, it’s ready for someone with vision to reimagine the space. Multiple living areas and a large covered lanai invite gathering, retreat, or simply enjoying Volcano’s cool mountain air. Downstairs offers a separate front office and flexible space for a workshop, exercise area, or additional bedroom, with its own bathroom and multiple covered lanais. A detached Tea House offers unique character and creative potential. The recently added, detached garage is a standout improvement, providing valuable space for vehicles, storage, hobbies, or a workshop. There is infrastructure for a koi pond, off the back porch, ready for some TLC. With nearly 5 acres of mature greenery, a fenced rear area, and a serene, retreat-like atmosphere, the land is the heart of this property. Imagine the quiet of the forest, the feeling of space, and a remarkable proximity to the volcano itself—approximately one mile as the crow flies. Located in Lava Zone 3, with fiber-optic internet availability and no CC&Rs, this is a rare opportunity for those who value privacy, independence, and connection to nature.
